The clients of the Meadowlake project wanted to renovate their dated master bathroom into a contemporary spa with a walk-in closet. Since the existing master bathroom is very limited in space, it was decided that an addition would be required to accommodate all of the new fixtures the clients wanted. As a result of the master bathroom being on the third floor, the decision was made to expand the addition out on all of the floors. This addition space creates a sunroom with a workout space in the basement and an entertainment space with a bar on the 1st floor. The clients’ backyard features fountains, fish ponds, large old growth trees and several flowering plants. The clients wanted to create a connection between this natural environment and the new master bathroom. The layout of the bathroom focuses on visual focal points and corridors that allow vision out into the landscape. The design of the addition incorporates large operable windows, a stone double sink vanity, a walk-in shower, a spa tub, tile flooring and a custom built closet. The performance of the addition is enhanced by high performance windows, an advance building enclosure system that uses spray-foam insulation, a radiated floor heating system, energy efficient lighting and a dual flush toilet. Solatect Design + Build, LLC is serving as the Architect and Construction Manager for this project.
